THE ROGATIONIST COLLEGE
(St. Anthony’s Boys Village Foundation)
The Rogationist College is a private educational Institution run by the Rogationist Fathers, and established in 1987. It is an educational arm of the Saint Anthony’s Boys Village Foundation (SABVF) located at Lalaan 2, Silang, Cavite.
The St. Anthony’s Boys Village Foundation is the first “Anthonian Orphanage” or charitable institution of the Rogationists in the Philippines, as proof of St. Hannibal’s love for children. This charitable institution houses indigent boys desiring to pursue higher quality education. The village complex was originally conceived by the former Rogationist Superior General Fr. Gaetano Ciranni, RCJ and his General Councilors. The first phase was built under the supervision of Fr. Salvatore Ciranni, RCJ. Its cornerstone was blessed on March 2, 1985 by the late Bishop of Imus, His Excellency Felix Perez, in the presence of a handful of civic, religious and government representatives who wished that the Rogationist Fathers would succeed in their work of charity.
The complex was completed in two years and inaugurated on the feast of St. Anthony of Padua, June 13, 1987, by the late Papal Nuncio, His Excellency Bruno Torpigliani, and the late Eminence Jaime Cardinal L. Sin. The occasion was graced also with the presence of Mr. Francisco Eizmendi, former president of San Miguel Corporation, and the former ambassador of Italy to the Philippines, His Excellency Mario Crema. The Father General then, Fr. Pietro Cifuni, appointed Fr. Carmelo Capizzi, RCJ as SABVF’s first Superior.
In May 1987, the College was called Rogationist Academy (RA) and established as a co-educational Catholic High School to meet the educational needs of the first batch of 35 interns or indigent boys of the St. Anthony’s Boys Village Foundation. The School became a “locus” for the indigent boys to pursue their formal high school education. Although its primary clients are the indigent boys (Interns) under the care of the SABVF the school allowed other students (boys and girls) to also join in the pursuit of quality education.
Later, the Rogationist Academy with its Technical components was recognized as College by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
