“Wikang Filipino; Mula Baler Hanggang Buong Pilipinas”, this was the theme for the 23rd celebration of the Buwan ng Wika held last 20th of August  2009 at St. Francis Sports Complex.

A Holy Mass, lead by the superior, Fr. Herman Abcede, RCJ, was held at the start of the celebration.  It was followed by a short program.  Eunice Esteban and Jade Duhaylungsod, both from the Theatre Club, served as the master of ceremonies. The program started with an opening prayer lead by Bro. Eduardo de Palma, RCJ. The coordinator of the Filipino subject, Ms. Lilibeth dela Torre, then gave the opening remarks. Performances were given respectively by the RC Dance Troupe and the Glee Club. The High School Faculty also participated by performing some songs. Mr. Reynaldo F. Dinampo, the assistant principal gave his closing remarks to formally end the program.

In the afternoon, “Patimpalak Sa Katutubong Pagsayaw,” the most anticipated event, was held. Eleven schools from the province of Cavite were invited to join the contest. Starting the program, Mr. Michael Tordecilla led the opening prayer followed by the singing of the National Anthem by the RC Glee Club. Fr. Eduardo Fernandez, RCJ, was not present during the event to personally give the opening remarks so it was instead read by Mrs. Lucila Ambojia, the Student Affairs Coordinator. After the opening remarks, the Fiesta Filipino Dance Troupe, invited by the school, showed their performance.

For the mechanics, each school should only have 20-30 dancers to represent them. The allotted time for every school’s presentation was only ten minutes. Each school will be judged based on the criteria for judging--40% for choreography, 30% for creativeness, 20% for the costumes/props and 10% for audience impact. The judges were also introduced. The first one to be introduced was Mrs. Corazon Alma Siochi of South Eastern College Manila, Mrs. Belen Bautista, one of the teachers from the College Department of Rogationist College, Mr. Rolly Socoro, the choreographer of the Agusan Dance Troupe, Ms. Raquel Rapunzel Maceda, the choreographer of Fiesta Filipino Dance Troupe, and Mr. Ritchel Ybañez an international choreographer.  There will be 3 winning places, each of which will bring home a trophy.  For the 3rd place, 5,000php will be awarded, 7,000php for the 2nd, and 10,000php for the 1st place or the champion.

After the presentations, each school was given a Certificate of Attendance while the judges were given Certificates of Appreciation.
